Shii-Cho Practice
Before bringing Lightsaber Path's Shii-Cho to the Saber Arts Club, our instructor had to be able to demonstrate the form proficiently. This is footage of that process.

FAQ and Quick-Start Guide
Costs:
Our intro course, or General (Kenobi) Session, is free and should remain so indefinitely. We welcome donations if students feel so inclined. That can be done here.
Our advanced class is $30 for a season (6mos). Once a student has demonstrated competency in the intro course materials, we invite them to join that class. The $30 helps us cover costs for the space and subscription fees to our parent organizations, that help develop the curriculum, and maintain the website. Additional costs may be incurred should a student want to begin sparring or combat competition. Gear can vary widely in cost. This is not a requirement to join the advanced class.
Classes:
We meet every other Sunday after the start of a season at Zion UCC in Downtown St Joseph--816 Faroan St. The General (Kenobi) Session starts at 6:00PM and ends at 7:00. The advanced class starts at 7:00 and ends at 8:00.
Equipment:
Sabers
We ask that students bring their own lightsabers. That is a bit of an initial cost commitment. So for the first few classes, we may have items they may use in lieu of one. These supplies are limited. Or, if students have something that may work similarly, they are welcome to bring it. Though, part of the magic is having the lighted thingy that goes "whoosh." Instructors reserve the right to inspect, approve, and reject any equipment being used.
There are many places one may go to procure a lightsaber and they all have varying qualities and capabilities. For our purposes, and for something that can last up through the advanced class, we recommend one that is "baselit" and has few "hotspots." This means that it is effectively a fancy flashlight with a plastic tube attached and one wants as few jagged edges that may rub on the user's hand as possible. A good example, and the one we personally recommend, can be found here: https://viresabers.com/products/the-aero?srsltid=AfmBOopTly5f5-uSlqvbwg7mPBOHUgrRmvXsc87fkiTP8xEw6SjSO1RE.There are cheaper varieties out there with similar specifications, but this website is a mom-and-pop organization with great customer service and lovely people. I try to support them as much as I can.
Another good example, and the one made specifically for our forms system's patreon can be found here: https://allsabers.com/products/the-path-saber-1
We would discourage going "all out" and purchasing a "pixel" blade or spending too much on electronics. One can always upgrade later if they wish and not all lightsabers are well-suited to heavy sparring.
Sparring Gear
A sparring and competition gear guide can be found here: https://www.terraprimelightarmory.com/usa-lightfencing/us-lightfencing-rules/gear-for-lightfencing
**We recommend chatting with the club before making any big purchases.**
Waiver:
All students over 18yo need to sign a physical release form before participating. Students under 18 will need their parent/guardian present at all times and to sign a release form for them.
